Suzann (Cartney) Slagle

Suzann Slagle, 90, of Titusville, passed away Tuesday evening March 12, 2024 at her home.

Sue was born on December 18, 1933 in Titusville, a daughter of the late John and Marian O’Brien Cartney. She was married to Don Slagle on January 12, 1952 in NY.

Sue was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy. She had worked as a housekeeper for 20 years at St. Walburga Church and the church rectory.

She was an amazing woman who had a deep catholic faith and loved her family and friends deeply. She loved attending her grandkids’ soccer and baseball games, marching band events to watch “her little girl” Amanda, as well as graduations, weddings and other events. She always lovingly and jokingly referred to herself as “OLE #7” being the 7th child of 14.

Sue is survived by her husband Don of Titusville; children, Bob Slagle and wife Jean of Frewsburg, NY, Sue Edwards and husband Ken of Grand Valley, Ruth Slagle of Wyngate, NC, and Don Slagle, Jr. and wife Beth of Waxahachi, TX; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Quimby of Titusville and Jane Sargent and husband Tom of Millcreek; sister-in-law, Mary Carol Cartney of Titusville; brother-in-law, Don Stewart of Hydetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and John Slagle; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Slagle; a grandson, Matthew Slagle; siblings and spouses, Bill and Carol Cartney, John, Jr.  “Rusty” and Jane Cartney, Tom Cartney, Mike and Ann Cartney, James “Fuzz” and Patty Cartney, Den Cartney, Pat Cartney, Marg and Ralph Hoffman, Kay and Ken Tracey, Fran and Pete Myers, and Ruth Stewart; her parents-in-law, Homer and Lillian Slagle; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doris and Warren Foltz, and Barry and Tootie Slagle.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Crawford County, staff at Titusville Area Hospital, and her wonderful Home Health aides, Sandy, Sherry, Terry, Lynda, Melinda, Sam, Andrea and her grandson Christian.

The family will receive friends on Friday March 15th from noon to 1:00 PM at St. Titus Church 513 W. Main Street Titusville, PA 16354 at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Fr. Christopher Barnes as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
