Obituary of Norval F. "Jim" Hawk

Norval F. “Jim” Hawk, 93, of Pleasantville, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Jim was born on October 26, 1925 in Titusville, a son of the late Norval and Ursula Robison Hawk.  He was married to Nancy Gulland on August 5, 1967 in Titusville.

Jim was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1944.  He was a veteran having served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946.  He was stationed at New Guinea.

Jim was a master welder most of his life.  He had worked at Struthers Wells Corp. in Titusville and in Warren until they closed.  He then worked for Quaker State as a welder from 1972 until his retirement in 1988.  Jim was also self-employed as a farmer.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading books, spending time with his family and working the farm. He loved telling stories about the family and also about his experiences in the Navy.  He had a great sense of humor.

Jim loved the special banana cake his wife made him every year for his birthday.  He would always say “Good to have you home Nance”.  Now the angels are saying “Good to have you home Jim”.

Jim is survived by his wife Nancy of Pleasantville; a cousin, Shirley Williamson of Altoona; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Loker and husband Ken of Hydetown, Ann Sansom and husband Bob of Townville, and Sharon Hasbrouck and husband Harry of Pleasantville; a brother-in-law, John Gulland and wife Joelene of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and William Hawk; and three sisters, Mary Deschamp, Tippi McCracken, and Sally Waychoff.

No public calling hours or service will be observed.

Private interment will be in Union Cemetery.
