Obituary of David Myers
David L. Myers, 72, of Sunville, passed away Tuesday afternoon August 7, 2018 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
David was born on May 29, 1946 in Titusville, a son of the late Fred and Edith Tracey Myers. He was married to Elaine Spangler on Nov. 24, 1971 at Dempseytown.
David was a graduate of Townville High School, class of 1965. He was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He entered the service on Oct. 30, 1965 at Pittsburgh, PA and was honorably discharged on Oct. 29, 1968 at Ft. Riley, KS.
David had been employed at Conrail in Meadville for 20 years until 1981. He later served as Plum Twp. supervisor for several terms. He also worked as a logger for a number of years.
He was a life member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. He enjoyed racing his number “17” car at Tri-City Speedway for several years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife of Sunville; two daughters, Shelly Craig and husband Paul of Richmond, VA and Sherry Myers and companion Charlie Paden of Cherrytree; a son, Jesse Spangler of Oil City; eight grandchildren, Justin and Eric Dailey, Emily Craig, Carly, Jackson, and Sawyer Paden, and Joslyn and Zurick Blake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Myers; and two sisters, Clara Longberry and Madge Myers.
No public calling hours will be observed. Friends may attend a memorial service on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Diamond United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerome Alsdorf officiating.
Full military rites will be conducted at the church.
