Miss Dorothy Louise Dunkle, 70, of Titusville, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Meadville Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Oil City on April 3, 1947 to the late Howard A. and Mary Tirakis Dunkle.
Dorothy graduated from West Forest High School, class of 1965. She obtained a bachelor of science from Thiel College in elementary education.
She taught elementary school for the Titusville Area School District for over thirty-five years.
Dorothy has been a member of the Titusville First United Methodist Church since 1970. She was part of the bell choir and church choir.
She was a volunteer for Relay for Life, member of the Titusville Garden Club, Historical Society, YWCA, YWCA Book Club, Titusville Area Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and had previously coached girls throwing for the Titusville Track Team.
Dorothy enjoyed traveling with her friends, reading, knitting, and recently learned how to play the dulcimer, and would participate in the string instrument festival at the Titusville Middle School.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Colosimo and husband Phillip of Koppel, PA; a brother, William Dunkle of Burton, OH; and an aunt, Vange Richards and husband David of Lakewood, OH.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10 AM at the Titusville First United Methodist Church, 302 W.Walnut Street, Titusville, PA 16354, with Pastor Larry Reitz officiating.
