Obituary of Reva Shrout
Reva Maxine Shrout, 88, of Titusville, passed away Thursday afternoon November 29, 2017 at Titusville Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
Reva was born on March 4, 1929 at Centerville, PA, a daughter of the late Neil and Wilda Morse McCrillis. She was married to Louis F. Shrout, Sr. on March 24, 1951 in Townville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1994.
Reva had attended Five Corners School.
She was formerly employed at Talon in Meadville where she made zippers on the assembly line and also made fuses for military purposes during wartime. She also worked at Pitt Campus in Titusville in the housekeeping department.
Reva loved to bake, color and crochet. She had donated hats and pot holders to Associated Charities for many years. She was self-taught and enjoyed playing her accordion, piano, organ and keyboard.
Reva was loved by all. She volunteered to babysit the neighborhood children as well as caring for many elderly neighbors. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a second mom to many and will be sadly missed.
Reva is survived by a son, Louis F. Shrout, Jr. of Spartansburg; three daughters, Patricia Shrout and Louann Brown, both of Titusville, and Sherry Snyder of Union City; a step-daughter, Virginia Jones and husband Dale of Missouri; 8 grandchildren, Nadine and Nicole Tarleton, Edward, William and Reva Brown, Annie Wright, Christy Messina and Jimmy Snyder; two step-grandchildren, Charles and William Brown; 23 great grandchildren; a sister, Betty McCrillis of California; a sister-in-law, Betty Werling of Meadville; a brother-in-law, Willis Arnold of South Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, James Snyder and Charles Brown; brothers, Gerald, Chet, and Wayne McCrillis; a sister, Zola Arnold; a brother-in-law, Robert Shrout; and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Deane.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. William Hopkins, officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
